It was as cold here in our desert valley this morning, as cold as I can remember in a long time.

Bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! ..Natives aren't used to this sort of cold! We're supposed to be back up in the high 60's to low 70's F in a few days, and it can't come too soon for me!

Hi George,

would you mind keeping hold of the cold stuff, say for around 30 years or so!

For you long suffering Brits who endure sub Arctic weather winter after winter, I'd do it Reggie. However the rest of the Valley would tar and feather and ride me out of town on a rail if I did, and that wouldn't be a pretty sight. So, much as I'd like to help it's going to have to be a no go!

So George, tell us what caused the ice on the tree? Sprinklers running during below freezing weather?

Cold or not, it's beautiful and I'd have my camera out there, trying to get a unique shot of a rare occurence!

Exactly that Deserteagle, ..sprinklers running on a golf course when they really should have been shut down. Here's two more photos from yesterday morning that might be of interest. Notice the 3" cap of ice on the curb stones in the first.

This next one bears some explanation. What looks to be a wave of water in the distance is actually where the sprinklers hit the netting at the far end of the driving range and froze in place!

Cold like this is not the norm around here, so seeing something like this demands that the camera be brought out to do its job! We're supposed to slowly warm up now, so it's all good!

WOW cool photos but I am kinda jelous everyone else has cold and snow and we are still 55 and wet and fog. I would take the snow over this rain anyday we have had major flooding issues this year.

We're sneakin' up on 60*F this afternoon, so it looks like the bitter desert cold snap we had is just about history. Got nothin' but sunshine and blue skies to boot, so life is good all over again Jana!

Don't know how I'd do in constant cold, or in wet and fog for that matter. ..Oh wait; come to think about it, I do know how I'd do under such conditions - and it wouldn't be great!

Just too much of a warm weather sort to deal well with constant cold or wet. Oh, I could visit your neck of the woods for a short time right now, or hop the pond and hobnob with our frozen UK cousins for a few days, but anything more than that when the weather's as brutal as it's been of late would be tough for this old desert dweller to deal with.

George yeah I just get tired of the grey everyday. We have had two days of sun in the past three months I just get so tired of grey everyday and no snow and then rain and wind and flooding and just miserable. I want to be able to take my son out to the park or beach but cant. I honestly was so happy in Alaska when it was 10 degrees or even in the minus degrees and snow on the ground. I just am tired of the grey fog and rain for 11 months out of the year. We never have summers here end of August and beginning of September we might have some decent weather the rest of the year is rain and more rain. We also get a lot of storms with wind gusts over 80mph in the winters so just makes going outside and doing anything near impossiable and I get cabin fever LOL guess I need to come down to Arizona and do some astronomy and riding my xt I miss it although did do some in the rain and fog riding tonight I just miss riding too much to not ride in this weather smile
