I cant wait to see how this all works out. I would love to have a 4 gallon tank for our bikes. Im curious if we will have to have them painted to match our bikes.

Why would you "have to have it painted to match your bike" ?

Judging by their tanks, if you want them to match, yes. Clarke makes colored tanks (colored more like the bikes platics), but with a bike like ours I'm thinking it will either be black or clear. We're just lucky they are making them....cool

I think willu707 has a valid point, since over the years Yamaha has had various color schemes for the 225. My 2006 is royal blue with white and black striping. The 2005 model was black with silver striping(I think)

I wonder how Clarke will handle this situation. If they produce a tank that has a primer coating, that would mean a custom paint job for the buyer.

Does anyone know what Clarke has done in the past with respect to paint colors for their custom tanks ?

Close, it's silver with black, blue and gray striping. Tanks done in the past and present by Clarke have been colored. If you click on this link go to page 10-11 to see tank colors. I'm just thinking that since the XT225 isn't as popular as other bikes (in their eyes), they won't be going out of their way to make a choice in colors....cool

Well, I'm just glad they are finally making them. My all black bike isn't a fashion statement anyway. Just glad to get a bigger tank.

Moto,

Thanks for the heads-up. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

I wouldn't think that there would be any problem with their standard colors. They just load the plastic that is needed with the pigment and inject into the mold. Since they already have the different color plastics in should not be an issue.

Black or silver would be fine for our 2005.

I agree that its nice to just have them make one. But at the same time i was just curious what our options would be.

I wish they would have given more info, but they did not. I would guess, since it is plastic, color is not a difficult option for them. You might have to wait for a special selection, but I am sure they could do it.
