Hey, I need to rebuild my carb on 2006 XT225, I was wondering if anyone sold a kit and people's experience with them.
Thanks

I've never seen a carb kit, but almost all of the parts are available separately. What parts do you need? Here is a link to a carburetor parts diagram. https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/yam/500456dcf8700209bc7931f6/carburetorThat black plastic part between 13 and 16 can be found on eBay brand new. I don't believe Yamaha ever sold them. About the only wear parts on an XT carb are the float needle set, #31, and the float bowl gasket #32 if you remove the float bowl often, or if the float bowl is stuck and you damage the gasket while removing it. Be very careful with the carb when working on it. They are insanely expensive new, and the carb body is not available separately.
The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. 1994/2001 custom built XT225 with a ton of aftermarket parts.

Thanks for the reply. The bike has been sitting for a couple of years and the carb is all gummed up. I figured I needed gaskets as you mentioned and also the float and jet needles or are they serviceable?

Berryman B-12 carb cleaner works well if you need to flush out jets and passages. Just watch your eyes at the spray is very strong. Good luck!

Procycle offers a kit .... https://procycle.us/model/yamaha/xt225/fuel-and-intakeGenerally no need to replace the jets, just clean them. Boiling hot water helps loosen the crud. Be careful if the main jet is stuck. If you break/spin the tube it's installed in, that's a bad day. The wire inside a bread/twist tie or a small guitar string is helpful for cleaning out the very small passages. Don't loose the tiny spring, washer, and o-ring on the tip of the mixture screw.

Just an update, I bought a kit on eBay for $35, K&L part 18-65708. It came in a nice packet and it says Made in Japan on it. I will update again after I rebuild the carb. https://www.ebay.com/itm/313128353017

Everything in that K&L kit should be reusable except for the float needle set and the rubber parts. I prefer genuine Yamaha parts. I have a set of carb cleaning wires from K&L. I had one a long time ago and lost it. Since I used to play the guitar, I found guitar strings worked fine. Since I have 6 bikes and 3 cars with carbs, I finally bought another set. http://www.adeptpowersports.com/k-l...msclkid=d06efe1a6203188c5e2f9ffaacfb3ed7

Unless you've modified the bike, you're going to want to stick with the stock jetting. Switching from the 40 pilot jet to the 42.5 should help cold starting, but you'll want to stick with the 125 main and stock needle (no shims). Set the mixture screw 2.5 - 3 turns out from a gentle bottom and you should be in the sweet spot.

Hello Peejman, we have the same bike! Are you saying that this kit contains parts that are not OEM? How do I know what size Jet and needle are in the kit, there is no description? My bike is stock, I found these Specs for a 2003, I guess they're the same for 2006?

I don't know what's in that jet kit. The stuff I recognize in your list looks correct, but I don't know all of them. You shouldn't need to change any of the hard parts unless there's corrosion inside the carb.
I mentioned that because people tend to want to change the jets for more power. The XT doesn't respond to jet changes like some other bikes. Other than the mixture screw setting, the stock jets usually work best in a stock bike.
And use 100% gas whenever possible. Ethanol is very bad for carbs.
