My 2004 225 just wouldn't start one day.

It has only done just over 30,000 K's (I've done 20,000 of them!)very reliably I have to say.

After testing it turned out that my pulser coil and stator coils have no resistance, i.e. broken!!

Having got a quote from my local Yamaha dealer in Darwin of approx $500 Aussie dollars (which is one sixth what I paid for the whole bike!) I started reading these forums and threads and came to conclusion that the 'XT250S' from Oz is essentially the same as the US 225S...

So I bought the parts from Partshark and alas, the Stator is not the same one, should have checked, I know, but there you go, so... a warning to other riders, not sure if the UK models are the same as ours on Oz or not, but don't make any assumptions!!

So, I have a brand new stator for sale part number 4JG-85510-01-00
which I would be happy to let go for $200 aussie dollars and I'll even include postage in that for anywhere.
The only thing is the connector was different so I soldered mine on before I noticed the whole not fitting thing - which is what you'll have to do to this one now, keep your old connector and solder it on to the wires - or you could post me your old connector and I'd be happy to do it for you..

In case anyone in Oz happens to read this the stator also fits AG200 bikes of '97 and '99. (a reverse part number look up found this lucky fact!)
A replacement AG200 stator would cost you getting on for $350 (Aussie dollars) once you've paid for them to get it from Japan, so buy mine and save yourself a fortune!!!

Is it just me, or does this amount of money for a replacement stator and then having to pay to get if from Japan, seem ridiculous??
Has any one else had a stator fail at 30,000 Km's or lower?

This is the newest bike I've ever had. I'm very disappointed by failures after only 30,000 Kms.

My 1980 CX500 stator just failed too. You might expect that after 34 years, but less than 10???

Ah well. I bit the bullet. About $450 aussie dollars just for the stator. Merde happens, eh...

Is there a for sale page on the forum where I could also advertise this?

Oh, and I don't seem to be able to access threads in the forum, I wonder whats going on there??
