I found an LED bulb that fit, and the turns worked fine, but the running lights didn't come on at all.

Anyone have success replacing this with an LED where the turns and running lights both worked? Should be able to use a pretty bright bulb since it is an LED.

I just upgraded my front turn signals and running lights to LED, got them from autozone, they were not cheap (19.99 for two) the model I used is sylvania #1157, cool white colour. I tried the amber version but they were not as bright. if they had a warm white colour that would have been better.

You need dual filament compatible LED bulbs... 1157, not 1156 which in single filament. The base will have 2 poles instead of just one.

1156, single pole:

1157, dual pole:

I looked back at my invoice. I have an 1157. I think the problem is that the bulb didn't fit well, and I didn't get it screwed all the way in. It may require another short turn. I'm going to try some dialectic grease and a file to see if I can get it to fit.

the locking stubs are offset from each other (one lower than the other) if you don't match it with the socket it will seem like it does not fit.

but having said that I had to knock down the contacts on the bottom with a file to get it to fit a little easier.

I looked at it today. The "stub" I need to use to get the contacts to be properly aligned won't come close to the socket. I hit it with a file. Not enough. Time to hit it again.

It is 1/4 inch away. The bulb base sticks out too far. I'm going to try one at the auto parts store.

EDIT
The Sylvania Super Bright 1157 worked perfectly. The other one had a manufacturing defect and didn't work when it should have. I had it inserted properly the whole time.
