Hello Everyone,

Good to find this site. My hobby is rebuilding older lost cause motorcycles and I'm expecting to be needing to be picking a few brains on here over my latest acquisition.

It is a very early production 225 Serow that will have been imported into the UK at some point from Japan. Frame number is 1KH-000234. Trawling the internet tells me the first model serial number was 1KH-000100, made in 1985. So like I said, if that is correct, mine's a very early one!

Mechanically it seems pretty complete, but the electrics are ripped out. So first job I'm going to attempt is putting together a basic ignition circuit with the the bits I have to see if I can get a spark. So look out for a post very soon asking for help with that!

Cheers for now
Alan

Welcome! I’m not familiar with the electrical system on these bikes, but I imagine you’ll likely find others here who are.

Welcome! The electrical systems are pretty basic. You can likely find a suitable wiring diagram online.

Welcome aboard, Alan. Closest I've come to rebuilding an XT225's wiring was with an '06 I had that somehow shorted out. I had to rebuild and repair the melted mess the wiring harness had become. Took a while, but with patience, splicing in new wires as needed and lots of electrical tape I got 'er done. Like Peejman said, the wiring layout on these bikes is pretty simple, so find the diagram you need for your bike, look it over closely, and you'll soon enough have what you need to get that early original Japanese XT225 up and running like it should!.. Best of luck as you sort things out, and ride safely always..
