Good catch, Paul. Big difference between ML and CL. Here in the states we're generally out of touch with things metric. Most of us likely would have gone on blithely unaware had you not pointed your mistake out.

Never understood why people resisted like they did back in the day when adopting the metric system was up for discussion..

Quite comical at times, we buy beer in pints at a pub but in metric 500ml bottles in a shop. Our engines have always been in metric CC's from long before we had metric, but wheels, tyres & chain kits remain in imperial sizes. We buy fuel in Litres yet fuel consumption is always quoted in miles per gallon. Crazy eh. No wonder we get in a muddle at times.

It's a patchwork quilt of weights and measurements that quite often leaves us "in a muddle", as you put it. Mixing imperial with metric, then throwing the U.S. slant on things imperial, and it can take a while to get a grip on even the simplest questions, with Google search called on to verify whether we have it right or not..

The metric system is better all the way around. The trouble is I didn't grow up with using it. Someone says 1-2 miles and I know about how far that is. 1-2 Km doesn't bring familiarity.

I've worked with metric dimensions for many years but still find myself converting to English to get a feeling for sizing. Missed the metric boat many year ago.

We have a crazy mix of both. The UK still uses miles but in Eire we found a mix of both. We cross the channel & it's all KM's, easy convert 6 x first digit will do, we get used to it. The oddest one I've come across was at Airbus UK where wings were made in imperial fitted with imperial size UNF fasteners then shipped over to Toulouse to be bolted to a fuselage made in metric. I think it was so's we wouldn't nick the Titanium fasters for our bikes. Ha
