George - Good call on not riding back country alone. Not smart at any age. That said, staying active is important and possible if one does their homework in the gym and at the dinner table. Scaling things back is also smart. My neighbor is 89 and she still rides her ATV, shovels snow, digs ditches, cuts wood, drives, etc. Sharp as a tack too. She grew up here farming and ranching. And has stayed in good shape. Not FAT either. It can be done. She says she stays busy mentally/physically and watches what she eats.

Happy BD to one and all with many more on the horizon.

A couple of really close calls while riding my last XT225. Fortunately they went my way, but I couldn't continue pushing the limits, and the only way to assure that - knowing myself as I do - was to sell the bike and avoid the temptation in the first place. My Jeep has filled in nicely - so not too much of a loss..

Your neighbor has 10 years on me, but my kind of person. My mother was the same sort. Hard working, farmer and rancher's wife, slender and strong. Lived till she was 92, still sharp as a tack. I take after her. Keep myself active, eat lite, work hard. Although retired I've got projects that keep me busy and engaged. Encourage my kids to do the same, successfully for the most part..

As for us, there are a lot more yesterdays than tomorrows. Make every day count and enjoy yourself. Lots of background aggravations to wade through these days. But with some planning, adapting, scaling, filtering and jockeying one can keep the enjoyment rolling along.

We too do a lot of 4WD outings. It's all good stuff. Roll outward, upward and onward! Get home safely too.

I tend to keep my rides close to home.
Here's a couple of short roads in my town.

Thanks o5.
My 2009 has that already. I guess it's a keeper (for now).

Is that 2009 headlight/fairing configuration a direct retrofit to a 2001 XT? I've been poking around trying to figure out how to change the the front of my XT. I know, purely cosmetic. But as with Jeeps I really don't like the square headlight look.
