Guys and gals with the 250: A poster on another site claims that you cannot get larger pilot jets (stock is #34) for the Keihin carb. I didn't realize the 250 does not have a Mikuni carb. Has anyone found replacement jets for this carb?

I might have access to these jets soon.....didn't realize that Yama-mama had switched to Keihin...... are the main jets the short round variety or hex? Are the threads on the pilot jet on the thinner tube near the air-bleed ports or are they on the larger part of the jet?

The poster on the other site is going to remove the jets and measure them. Keihin has lengths and pictures on their jet site. Stock jets are #34 pilot and #135 main. Most listed Keihin pilot jets start with the #35.

Dumb question: Is the XT 250 carb a Keihin or Teikei (Yamaha proprietory carb)?

Hi Chaps,

mine's a TK, part number 5XT-14301-01, according to the parts book but with an ID cross ref of 5XT101SF01.

Reggie, the parts fiche calls for a X 3C58 49 carb assembly. Evidence would indicate that the US version is a Teikei, and not a Keihin.

could you take some photo's of a 250 carb, so we can compare?

I would love to take some photos but I own a 225. I looked up the Yamaha parts fiche for that number. The carb is a vacuum operated CV carb like the 225 Mikuni. I have owned 3 vehicles (XT350, TT350, 340 Ovation snowmobile) with the Teikei carb--all were the dual throat type. They worked pretty well but their were no replacement jets available back then either.

Hi Glenn,

oh well, I wonder if any of you other US owners would take some shots so we can see if the Japan spec bikes have the same?
