As everyone knows the 08 XT is really tough to get accesories for, so I have made modifications to my bike that will hopefully set it apart from the basic. I have added new small turn signals, a motard front fender, the Z1 mod, an led tail light, and I also have an Acerbis Cyclops headlight on the way. I will eventually add new rims and tires of the supermoto type, but with a more agressive tread pattern, and also some performance engine/carb mods. I have tried to do this project with spending as little as I can, and it has been working so far, not for long I am sure. We all know how that goes. Anyhow here it is, hope you like. Pictures will be up tonight hopefully.

Your bike looks great, but it is a bit clean. Who makes that tail light assembly?....

Trust me, it was only clean for the pictures, just got done with a 105 mile adventure ride. We came across cars on fire, while trying to get through 8 feet of snow, where at some points you had to rap out in 3rd lean back go for a litle air followed by a sort of controlled slide into the next mudpit/creek/snowdrift, and hope you didn't dump it in front of your buddies. Alas I was to the end where I was going across the last snow section and fell into a pool of water, the ice had broken away and myself and the bike found the bottom. I got out real quick, and then went back in after the bike which was sunk, just the throttle was coming out of the water, I had HULK strength for a few moments and managed to yank the bike out of the water and push it to a nice sunny spot, Of course nothing worked at that point and I was soaking wet. I pushed the bike into the sun, took off the seat and got into the airbox where I got as much water out as I could. I pushed the bike as hard as I possible trying to get some speed up forthe next downhill where I jumped on dropped the clutch in second and listened to the bike spit, sputter and finally burst to life. I still had around 50 miles to go at this point so I just rode the bike for what it was, not caring if I destroyed the bike or not being as I was exhausted and upset over what I had just done. 35 was my average speed for the ride home with the bike jerking and spitting the whole way. Next day I went to the local bike shop picked up all of the fix it stuff I needed and started repairing the poor thing. Well it's good as new now and yes clean. As a second note after 6000 feet the stock carb hates it's life, I need to rejet.

The tail light assembly is Acerbis, the front fender is just a universal motard fender, which you have to drill and then shave off a little half moon where the front brake line mounting point is, the turn signals are also a universal mount

That sucks that you and your bike went into the drink, but at least no major damage and you got her back running. No pics from the ride? What is the part number on that tail light assembly?....

So the part number for that taill light is 0008326.90 or it could be 2044390001 let me know if you need a different number.
Here are the few pictures I took from the ride, it ended up being to much work pulling out the camera and taking pictures, I have decided it is worth the work and I will start taking more. I thought the camera was water damaged but it just broke the screen. The guy in the picture is my buddy Joel who just picked up a KTM 450, I have to say the XT had no problems keeping up on the highway for the drive up to the trail, until 70mph then he started to pull on me. My other buddy Ben that went was riding a 01 drz250.

http://www.motostrano.com/acledtali.html here is a direct link to the light, I was going to order from these guys but I like to try and suport the local small shops as much as I can before the internet sucks up all retail sales. The picture made it look a litle bigger than it is. I had to take off the rear TL assembly then I drilled pilot holes in the shape I wanted then I conected the dots with a really sharp pocket knife. I then pushed the light into the hole until it snapped into place, drilled two wholes bottom up and the light came with screws and lock nuts so you can fasten the whole deal down.

Got one 2 weeks ago, love it, can put both feet onthe ground. Small turn signals are a must. The Yamaha guys tell me by end of August some aftermarket parts will be out, skid plate, reuseable air filter, etc.

No more "A" courses, just trails and Dual Sports on my new 08 XT250X

What you need are Jap spec models, already comes with the smallest rubber mounted indicators and a smaller headlight.

But upgrades are part of owning a bike, and trying to make yours unique. Do take lots of photos, cameras can be real cheap, and its great to share your experiences.

I should also add to my ride story that my buddy Ben was the only one who made it through all the water crossings with out getting very wet. Way to go water skipping Champ. Also on that ride Joel wasted us through all of the snow. Man I feel like a chump the more I think about that ride
