The other day I went to do the pilot screw adjustment. I noticed that there was no brass plug and then on top of that the screw was out 5-6 turns. What should I do? ---------------- 2000 yamaha xt225

Hey barryjohn, you probably lost the brass plug (leave it as it is). On mine it was still there but there was already a hole to remove it & the screw was already turn 3 turn so I left it there. Is your bike running and starting ok ? Maybe you could adjust it to 3 turn and see how it starts in the cold. Mine starts easy with 3 turns as like most of us here.

Hi Jon,
My bike seems to be starting and running fine but after letting it sit for a few weeks it is hard to start so i have to pour gas into the cylinder by taking out the spark plug. thanks.

Don't leave it, set it to 3 turns out or so , not much more. It has been discussed here in the past that after 4 turns you are not controlling anymore. If you leave it where it is you may look one day and find the thing has decided to leave your bike forever.
To fix the hard starting check out the recent thread titled 'hard starting' and you won't have to put gas in the cylinder to get er done.
I yam what I am and that's all what I yam I tells ya!
