Hey All- hello from Northern Colorado... been lurking for a few weeks, after finding this great site and resource! Recently bought a 2003 XT225, after taking basic rider course,and bought this as starter bike. Came across the XT at a local dealer, knew it was right when I saw it. Have enjoyed taking it out locally, will use when better weather for commuting, and dirt roads at my mtn property.
I have already learned so much from this site, especially that it was a sound decision to get this bike- it's just what I wanted. I plan to do most maint. myself, and see that most of what I need I can find right here! I did just have to install new speedometer cable last week. Thanks for your input on the forums, and the fotos and stories of what you can do with this bike. I look forward to following the site postings.

Hi xtjrp, Welcome to the site. I live in Billings, MT and I come through, or at least by, Ft Collins on my way to Denver several time a year. Perhaps we can get together for an afternoon ride next year.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! Warm enough today I rode to work. I'm still trying to find the source of a rattle that appears at about 30mph- something plastic I think- it may be the chain guard. Anyway, I'm always hyper about noises that shouldn't be, but maybe It's normal to hear some things shaking around. Might remove some parts one by one, hope I find it before there's nothing left...

Hey "xtjrp".. Welcome to the site.. Laura had a "mystery rattle" on her xt225 also.. Turned
out to be one of the three bolts (#5 in pic below) that was holding the exhaust heat shield
was loose.. Made for an interesting rattle.. Until we tightened the bolt.. Cheers
