For you guys who enjoy riding to remote trail heads then hiking into even more remote areas, here's an excellent two person adventure hike into an anciently inhabited part of Arizona's Grand Canyon that's well worth watching.

The vast landscape and amazing scenery are worth the watch by themselves, but what the hike reveals concerning the prehistoric peoples who occupied this unbelievably rugged and remote area for thousands of years before our modern era provides a perspective on what we see around us today that is illuminating and challenging on a great many levels..

Enjoy!

Hi George - An interesting video and nicely done. It's a deep dive @ 40 minutes but I watched the entire thing. You need to be young to travel where and how they did. There are a lot of questions that will likely remain unanswered about the ancient people that lived in that region. Documentation was primitive or nonexistent. Rituals and lifestyles of ancient people can be complex. We know they were there, structures were built and have approximate dates on events. Beyond that it's educated guessing. One day someone may dig our relics up and ponder what went on.

Back in the mid 80s, Jeannie and I stayed at the Bright Angel Lodge and hiked down to Plateau Point on the Bright Angel Trail which is about 1/2 way down into the canyon. Brutal hike which took us from sun rise to sunset with 4 days of muscle soreness in the legs thereafter. We did the helicopter tour and saw the Imax film on Powell's expedition. Back then in the Fall there were no crowds, peace, quiet and reasonable rates. At this stage, I doubt we'll ever return to the Grand Canyon. Thanks for the link.
