Has anyone had good results with heavier springs up front and the Cogent Dynamics Modoc on the rear on a XT225?
Its expensive and only want to spend the dough if it is worth it.
...
Yes,
Great results.
Started with the Front Springs.
Installed the Cogent .42kg/mm
and the Drop-in Cartridges and that
got rid of all of the mushy/bottoming out
of the OEM's.
Great Improvement up-front.
Enjoyed the ride for a few months, then
moved to the Rear Suspension.
I then ordered the 7.1 kg/mm Cogent 'Modoc'
Rear Shock which had a 6-8 week lead time.
While I waited, I started on the Rear Arm
and the Swing Arm Relay Linkage.
With the OEM Shock removed, before removing the Rear Arm
completely, I worked the Rear Arm up and down to check the
Swing Arm and the Relay Linkage bushings to see how they
felt and sounded..This bike had missed a number of Grease Jobs
in its life and the pivoting up and down felt rough, dry, scratchy and sandy.
I replaced or cleaned-up all of the Collars, Bushs, and
Solid Bushings in the Swing Arm/Relay Linkage.
The Oil Seals were all replaced.
All of these are available from Yamaha.
Very Solid ride, on/off road.
Now, I got a like-new(probably, better than new)
Suspension, Front and Rear on my 23 year-old bike.
