Hello, I was thinking about buying a MotoPumps Air Shot 2.0 tire inflator to bring with me on rides on my XT225 in case I want to air down my tires offroad or in case I need to change a tube. MotoPumps says the maximum draw of the Air Shot is 7.5 amps. Is this too much for the electrical system on the XT225? https://www.motopumps.com/shop/air-shot-2

7.5 amps at 12V = 90 watts. The older 225's stator is rated at 140 watts, the newer 225's stator is 170 watts. That's a pretty big chunk of the total available power. Given that the lights pull 70-90W, I suspect the pump won't be real happy. It may work by drawing down the battery for a short run of the pump, but I don't think it'll work continuously.
I carry a small bicycle tire pump. It's slow, but it works.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

We too carried a bicycle pump which worked fine. Some of the longer ones will deliver enough air to make inflating a tire quick enough. As for an electric pump, if you have a switch to turn off the headlight, while using the pump that might work. The XT225 has a shunt regulator so any extra power removed from the system needs to be dissipated by the shunt. The electrical system isn't designed for large power swings. I'd go with a manual bicycle pump.

CO2 Cartridges work and are easy to carry.

Well, looks like bicycle pump or CO2 it is. Anyone have a suggestion on a good durable bicycle pump I can carry with me?

I'd shop on Amazon and check the reviews. There are many options. I've found the ones with a short hose work best. It keeps the pump in a good position and avoids stress on the valve stem. Pumps usually take both presta and schrader valve stems. I never liked the CO2 units, if the connection is bad you'll blow through a cartridge. XT225 tires aren't that big but might be beyond a single CO2 cartridge. How many you'll need I can't say. Go with a manual pump and some elbow grease. Some of those pumps have a pressure gauge which might be nice. Good luck.

CO2 is a definite no no. When it runs out, and it will, amazingly fast, your stuck. I used to use those little foot operated pumps, only I would actually get down on my knees and use them by hand. I can't get down on my knees anymore, so I carry a 12V compressor. I carried a cheap Slime compressor from Walmart for a long time. I finally decided to upgrade to one of these. https://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-mini-compressor.html VERY easy to carry, and works fine on all my bikes, including the XT225. Since all my bikes have a pigtail for a battery tender, this plugs right into it. I have a larger compressor at home. Also, if anyone is familiar with Itchy Boots (I watch all her YouTube videos) she carries one of these https://eastbound.shop/product/rocky-creek-motopressor-pocket-pump/?v=796834e7a283Definitely get either a pump or a compressor. I've been in situations before where I had to stop every mile or so for over 20 miles to put air in a leaking tire. You really NEED an endless supply of air, however you get it.
The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. 1994/2001 custom built XT225 with a ton of aftermarket parts.

I have one of those Rocky Creek compressors. Gave it a trial on the Serow back tyre, works just fine & quick. Take it touring on my Triumphs.

Does anyone have a fuse in their battery tender SAE cable to the battery?

All of my battery tender/maintainers (I have 7 in all, 3 different brands) have a fuse in the pigtail that attaches to the battery, and connects to the cord from the battery maintainer. They all use SAE connectors. I have rigged up all sorts of accessories, some of them temporary, that connect to this pigtail. Mine all came with 7.5 amp fuses, but the length and gauge of the wire is sufficient to handle a 15 amp fuse. Some of the really cheap Walmart/Harbor Freight models might not be.
