Wow, that's a lot of tire you've fitted to the rear of your XT Paul! Looking forward to what you think of it after putting some miles on it. Hope it turns out well for you and doesn't rub where it shouldn't.. Best of the New Year to you and yours!..
Aye m8, 'tis a big & heavy tyre, had to try it for fit, not as much clearance as I'd like, we'll see eh. If it doesn't work I'll fit a MT21 same as front. Best New Year wishes to you & all here.

Out for a check run today 55 mile bimble for lunch up at Ladybower ressie, all fine, tyre not touched anywhere. Those big kbobbles feel a tad wobbly on road, be ok when they're worn in. Corners ok, just need get rid of the chicken strips, ha. Now I have good brakes both ends, makes for a quicker ride.

See in that pic below, the rubber section (top left) that keeps crud off the rear shock, is that a stock part, I can't see it on Fowlers parts list or else I'm looking in wrong sections. Not sure how long it should be, is mine worn away, should it reach down further?

Mine sits just even with the lower shock bolt and is just a piece of rubber about 1/8" thick.

Thanks for looking & reply, that's it, mine must be worn away a bit, I'd fit a new one if I could find it in parts list, if only to help preserve the rubber cover on bottom of shock. Looks to have a couple of moulded in pips from what I can see, that secure it. S'pose a bit of old inner tube would do the job if I can't get an original.

Finish up pretty much rebuilding the whole bike.
The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary. 1994/2001 custom built XT225 with a ton of aftermarket parts.

Serow went in for its annual MOT test last week, tester noted slight play in rear wheel bearing, not a fail, just advisory, I went home & changed it, good bearing/seal stockist 5 miles away. I reckon it was caused by water ingress, so fitted new bearing seals back & front, nice snug fit now.
Poor old bike getting worn out, did 3k miles on it last year, just bimbling about. Done 400 miles up to now this year & only 3 weeks in. Would be more if it weren't so bleddy cold in these hills. I bought a new jacket a size bigger for layering up, should have gone 2 sizes bigger.

Good on ya Paul, gettin' your bike's slightly loose wheel bearing replaced with new seals, and buying a slightly larger jacket for "layering up." This time of year if feels like the cold will never let up, and as much as your bike gets used 'layering up' and dressing warmly is a must. I leave my bike pretty much in storage through the winter, the only exception being if we have a 'summer like' day that comes along just begging me to get out and ride. Such days are few and very far between this time of year, ..there's no 'counting on em' at all, so most of my 'out and about' is on four wheels in a heated pickup cab, in which 'laying up' still comes into play!..
..I'd rather have questions I can't answer, than answers I can't question.. Dr. Phil

Alluz sumert to do keeping these bikes ont road eh. The bracket that holds the back of the rear mudguard broke off recently, likely caused by extra weight of the scottoiler I'd mounted behind the number plate & the mudguard extension I'd fitted to try & keep the crud off my back, as thrown up by rear tyre. I googled mobile welder & found one only 3 miles away, he came up next day, I made a bracket for extra support & he welded it up good & solid. Top man, only charged me £40, his min charge for a call out. It'll not break again. Just need some forest green paint now.
