I'm flying out to a customer location in Maine on Aug 22nd. Be out there for 1 week installing stuff. I will have internet access but response time may be slowed a bit. So that's my "air bike" ride adventure.

You'll miss the Maine Lobster Festival, but should be nice there. Hope the job goes smoothly.

Have a safe trip. Maine is on our list of places to visit, but haven't been there yet.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm going to Oxford which is rural. The people up there (including my customer) are all super nice. I'll be flying from Montrose, CO to O'Hairy then to Portland, ME. Takes about 1 hour to drive from the Portland Jetport to the Hampton Inn. Work is just down the road about 2 miles. The O'Hairy stop over is 1:30 which isn't too bad. I'll report back on how the "air bike" adventure goes.

I have a Garmin Nuvi which is really helpful. Old now since smart phones have replaced GPS, navigation, camera and player devices. I'm still on a flip phone which is fine. The Nuvi has free updates for the maps. So I figured let me bite into the sour apple update process and see how it goes. Garmin puts out an application called "Garmin Express" to manage their devices. It's either a Windows and MAC download. They do provide instructions for Linux but that involves WINE and WineTricks, a place I wasn't heading for. I have Windows 10 up and running as a virtual machine (Oracle VB) on my one Dell. I downloaded the WIndows version off the Garmin site and installed it without problems. You need to connect the Nuvi via USB so the Express application sees it. Then follow the prompts which are straight forward. The Nuvi has a MicroSD card slot so I formatted a 32Gb card as FAT32 and plugged that in. Just in case I needed extra storage for maps that are now larger than when the unit was new (perhaps 10 years ago). The map update took about 1 hour. I tested the Nuvi yesterday and it works fine.

Hi - Still in Maine. Things are going well but taking a bit more time than thought. Imagine that. So I'm here over the weekend and three days next week. Over and out for now.

Things always seem to take more time than we thought they would. You should be close to heading home now, so have a safe trip and we'll be looking forward to some photos once you're back..

Hope you make it home before the holiday weekend. Travel on holidays is always a hassle.

Well I got extended so still in Maine. Plans are to fly out on Sunday the 5th so I hope it's manageable. Projects taking longer than expected. Imagine that. Windy and rainy here from the hurricane but not bad. About 58F. Thanks all for the well wishes. Such gestures go a long way in today's world. The airline PA's threatening messages about face diapers and federal laws make me wonder where I live. The airport is no bargain either. Over and out for now.

Back in one piece this past Sunday (9/5). All 4 flights left on time and landed a bit early. All 4 flights were packed with the moods generally dank. Avoid flying unless you have to. As mentioned, the face diapers on everyone and threatening PA messages for refusing to wear one made we wonder what country I was in. Got stuff done with more to do so a second trip is on the horizon. Work is good, people I work with are great but traveling SUCKS! Need some down time now to recharge.

I left at 148.8 Lbs, ate in restaurants (carefully) for two weeks and weighed back in at 147.6 Lbs. Stress will do that I guess. Still able to move at the speed of business.

Good to have you back at your place, Scott. Moving "at the speed of business" imposes demands that have to be met. But once things are done enough to get back home, that's the best part of being away.

Can barely imagine what it's like flying places these days. I'd guess it's sorta like jamming yourself in a tight space with a bunch of angry, frustrated, tired people, each hiding behind whatever mask they're wearing while quietly praying things don't go south while they're aboard that flying tin-can.

To me that sort of 'jam 'em in, buckle 'em down and lock the door' travel would be a heck of a lot more stressful than being stuck in a hundred plus mile traffic jam while trying to get somewhere remote to enjoy a "relaxing holiday weekend" - which, come to think about it, is kind of an ultimate oxymoron these days.

Anyway, glad you're home again - but not nearly as glad as Jeannie must be having you back!..
