What a sweet bike, the power is amazing for a 225cc. Wonder why they quit selling them? There's a huge market for the low seat height on these. Nothing out there compares and nothing is available. DR and TW200's are way different bikes in my opinion. They'd sell a lot if still available. I need a good 100mi ride to fully get a final opinion on this bike's future with me. Just one issue I need to decide is the height of my knees when riding, seems just a lil high for my comfort level. It also affects the angle of my left foot in shifting gears, it just doesn't feel natural. We'll see, hate to sell it but if need be we'll move on. What's weird is this is no little bike, seat height yes a few inches lower. With the rear rack on it I can barely swing my leg over it to mount it. I swear it's as tall as a DRZ400, KLX250 or a KLR650 I've owned in the rear w/that rack. It would only save a couple of inches with the rack removed, just thinking.

I agree the XT225 is a wonderful bike. I have put over 20K miles on them. It doesn't surprise me that Yamaha discontinued them. It seems no company can hang on to a good thing. They always have to mess it up. If I could have any dual sport bike I wanted, it would be either a 1979 Honda XL250 or a 1979 Yamaha DT250. I've owned both and absolutely loved them. But even if you could find one, no parts are available. The XT225 is the best small displacement dual sport bike that is still viable IMO. Way better than the new XT250. It does surprise me that they are still making the TW200. Yes they are very different bikes, but I may yet wind up with a used TW. The DRZ is WAY too tall, even taller than the DR650. So is the KLX250. I have owned 2 first generation KLR650s. I liked them even though IMO they were too uncomfortable for road use and too big and heavy for off road. They worked best for long trips on not so great roads. Kawasaki messed them up in 2008, and totally destroyed them for the 2022 model year.

The XT225 seat is a bit tall for me, in my current condition. But it is the lowest dual sport seat there is. I used to be able to just hop right on it. I could even get on the KLR650 fairly easily, but could not flat foot it at a stop. Now I have to stand on something to get on the XT. But that's me not the bike. During a 30 mile road ride to be able to ride off road, I often put my feet on the passenger pegs. Switching back and forth helps a lot. I tend to get leg cramps if I don't move my legs around a bit.

I have a rack on my XT, and a basket mounted on the rack. I can still get on it by standing on something. And the basket is where I carry what I stand on to get on the bike. It works out.

The above is my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
1994/2001 custom built XT225 with a ton of aftermarket parts.

If you do sell it let us know in the 'I Am Selling' forum. Not suggestion you do sell it, just that 'if' you do please post it here too..
