On my 2007 XT225, I recently rode over 500 miles (mostly dirt) on Forest Service roads between Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead, CA. Examples include 3N16, 2N13, 2N10, and 2N71. Mostly easy terrain, but a few technical, more difficult sections and trails (search "dishpan springs trail" on youtube for a videos of a crazy section I had to WALK my bike down). Great scenery, wildlife, and relatively uncrowded trails!
Looking to do more riding - OCTOBER 2017 - before it's too chilly up there. There is literally a web of trails and loops to suit all riding abilities. Of course the XT is a PERFECT bike for riding those trails!
Any SoCal XT riders out there?

Pics or it didn't happen. Sounds like a good ride.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

Hi James. Watched a video of Jeeps crawling across crazy rough rock strewn sections of Dishpan Springs Trail. I can see why you walked your XT down that trail! Nasty stuff..
The voyage of discovery that truly matters is not in seeking new lands but in seeing with new eyes.

Hey @insanediego I just found this post on BB riding.
Yes, I do have plans to be up there a few weekends this summer. My buddy just hauled his 2 Honda CRF250 Rally bikes and one From to his cabin. Once this CV19 clears out I'm buying a truck and will be taking mine up there as well.
Not about to tackle some of that crazy 4x4 terrain but will be running as many first service roads and trails as possible. We have spent years of mountain bike riding and racing in Big Bear area and now looking forward to enjoying ourselves a little bit more with some HP.
Keep you posted.

Anyone in the Big Bear Lake area up for riding July 13-15, 2020? Planning on doing forest roads & trying some moderately technical trails on XT225. Still in the planning process on this last minute trip.....

Dang, I am still on CV-19 self quarantine or would try to join you. Just got back from my son's wedding on the 6th. Was a gathering of appx 50 people. No one was ill but between air travel, the wedding, and other activities my wife and I feel safer staying home until we know we didn't get exposed. Reach out to Namdar I believe he is heading up to Big Bear this weekend. Enjoy- some great riding to be had. Check out this one on Rever: https://a.rever.co/rides/1831477 JP

I just returned from a Big Bear ride—my first ever. Holy cow, I had no idea there were so many off-road trails up there! Didn’t take the XT250 but enjoyed a full day of riding with others on big bikes.
Highly recommended for any level of rider... there are trails for any level or ability of rider.
