 New to the xt225

Hello all. I finally found an xt225 that was perfect for me! It only has 1500 miles since new, and looks like it never left the showroom. It is a 2002 year model and the original owner traded it in on an Africa twin. As for me I am 65 years old and my work life was maintaining and fixing aircraft fo Skywest Airlines at KPSP. I am happily fully retired now and enjoy my summers here on the shore of Lake Huron and my winters in the southern Arizona deserts. I travel southwest in my 23 foot class C motorhome for transportation while camped I use a motorcycle. Speaking of motorcycles I have been riding continuously since 1968, started on a z50 mini trail. I have owned about every kind of bike there is but always there was an enduro in the stable. XR650Ls were my favorite for many years. Any way back to the current time I now ride a Honda ct90, it is perfect for carrying on the back of the motorhome but lacks the speed needed to make grocery runs of 20+ miles. Enter the xt, light enough for my motorhomes carrier and quick enough for the trip to Ajo for food. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Thanks for having me this forum helped my decision process for picking the xt225
Have motorhome and xt225 will travel!

livin' the dream, congratulations!
funny, how some trade "up" and some "down"...
i was considering the xr650 but, decided i needed something a lot lighter than my klr650. the xt225 was the right choice.

I think the down thing comes with age/good sence. I can remember looking down at the speedo of my 650, seeing it on 80mph on the top of a wash bank and thinking how badly it could end, that's when I realized there is more to life than going fast and started downsizing. Now I am all about having fun and smelling the Rose's as they say.

Glad to see you found the bike you were looking for, Mike. The '02 is among the best of the 225s, and as low mileage as yours is it's as near new as they come! Be safe as you enjoy your new ride, and enjoy it to the max!..
