Always looking for a riding buddy. Part of a deal I made with my wife when I bought the 07 XT225 - would not ride alone. Besides much more fun when there are a few people to explore the trails.

So, if you find yourself in the Orange County, CA area and are looking for a ride please PM or text me. Details below in non-Bot friendly format.

Technically I'm in south OC. Foothill Ranch is at the base, more or less, to Saddleback Peak. We are a short ride to Santiago Canyon and Santiago Road that enters the Cleveland National Forest at Maple Springs. The Maple Springs trail is a great fire road. Not technical but not smooth either. You will test your suspension!

Some great views to be had. Especially when we get up to the main divide and the summit at Saddleback Peak. For a longer outing we can drop down Indian Truck Trail towards Corona. Grab a sandwich / burger then head back.

Yes, even a Grom can make the climb. They were bottoming out every minute so I'd say pass on trying this on a pure street bike.

Looking forward to more trail time.

Oh - and weekdays may be an option. I frequently work from home.

You've made a good call to not ride alone. Doing so when trail riding is very risky. Especially in remote areas.

I think we have a lot of people from CA here so good luck locating someone to ride with.

I heartily second Muniac's "..good call to not ride alone. Doing so when trail riding is very risky. Especially in remote areas." Experience in such things is the ultimate teacher, however surviving one's own stupidity isn't guaranteed.

Hopefully some nearby will get on board and enjoy these rides with you.

I know a spot with a great trail riding area off Hwy 138, between Hwy2 and I-15. You're much closer than me but, maybe after this virus thing settles, we could meet out there. Great cafe @ Hwy 2 and 138. Trails galore, and a Hillclimb! Let me know, I'll share more. -Toby

Thanks - will do. We head up that way every now and then. Can load the bikes in the trucks to meet you.

JP.... looks like the virus thing is going to hamper things some.
Lets keep a ride in mind....see how things last.

Alternate possibility - Last week, for a few days, I went 60mi. North of me to a sparsely laid out Ranch for camping. Private, right next to "Ballinger OHVA"- Los Padres NF.
The Ranch is @ songdog.com. Owner is a friend, and no one was there. It was great, went on some loops(it was just me and the jack rabbits). Its good because its
open and remote. It would be a bit of a drive for you...but let me know. (I'd go back anytime.....wildflowers are looking good right now.) -Toby

Yes CV19 changing things up that's for sure. My wife has me grounded for the most part. Even holding off selling my car and buying a truck unit May at the earliest. Possible June given the number of new cases that need to run their course.

Our two OHVA areas were shut down this weekend in FORCE! Sheriff, CHP, and Park Service were out enforcing and issuing tickets. Will be posting about that shortly.

Once all this clears out my buddy and I plan to do a base camp at Big Bear for some weekend trail riding. We'll leave the bikes at his cabin. I'll certainly reach out to you with details once we start doing that. Have a few local riders who will be joining us from time to time.

Also looking at Anza-Borrego park but if CV19 runs through June it may be a bit too warm.

Stay safe

JP

California and Washington have made very good progress on keeping the virus infection curves very flat. Unlike NY and NJ. Hopefully that helps get things opened up earlier. Stay healthy.
