I did take it for a test ride and it's quite a bit taller than the XT but I could still touch the ground with my toes while sitting on the seat. The power and suspension were incredible to me, but I grew up riding dual shock bikes with 4-5" of travel, so the XT seemed tall when I got it! In tight spots I do like the lower height but there are times I'd just like more power, and not have to wring the bike out to get it.

The DRZ400, by all accounts, is a great bike, one you wouldn't go wrong with if the bike you're looking at and test riding is as good as you say it is. It will definitely have the sort of power you want, and if the extra height and weight don't give you second thoughts then I'd guess it may be the right bike for you!..

[img]https:///0JGxmoZ.jpg[/img] Well I finally joined IMGUR and just figured out how to get pictures up, it was actually easy even for a tech challenged person such as I. So here's what my 2001 XT225 looks like with the new paint job. I know some may like the original look, but I never liked it white with a silver frame so I changed it.

Nice! Looks really well done and gives the bike it's own character..

Very nice! Like the bright engine/trans case. Wheels look perfect. Is that a slightly larger seat? Looks a bit wider in the back then what I have on my bike.

And really like that rear rack. You are seriously ready for the trails!

Enjoy

Thanks for the compliments! That is an aftermarket seat made by seat concepts, it is a little wider and slightly thicker but the foam is different from the stock seat too. It has really made a difference. That rear rack does come in nice for bringing extra layers of clothes, bringing water along, whatever.

Long rides on a stock XT225 seat can leave a 'Monkey Butt' impression that's not soon forgotten. Anything to make riding it more comfortable is a huge improvement. Wider softer seats like Seat Concepts makes are one of the better choices.

Walmart sells an ATV seat cover as show here that fits the stock XT seat and makes it a lot more comfortable.

Some have rebuilt their stock XT seat with wider foam and re-covered it themselves. Whatever it takes it's a worthwhile project..
