10w and 147mm below the top are the specs for the XT225. Use the specs in your manual.
2004 XT225 purchased new in October 2004 0 miles. Current miles over 27,000.

In the manual they have volume specs too. If I recall, each fork takes 12 fluid ozs. Might be easier than taking a height measurement. Double check this in the manual! I had a 2003 XT and shop manual with a supplement. Not sure if volume changed over the years and with the introduction of the XT250.

If I get time, I might take the other leg off and have a measure. I'll have to drip dry the spring into the leg for a while to make sure I have all the oil.
Anyone have access to the genuine workshop manual for a FI late model XT250?
