Hi All,
I am relatively new to biking. I started with an $800 TTR125 and was doing trail riding and some light enduro stuff with a buddy.

He upgraded to a Beta 300 2 stroke and promptly dusted me on my little 125.

I sold that and turned the sale around to pick up an 03 XT225 project bike. I'm using this bike to learn as much as I can. I needed something street legal so I could get more time in the saddle and get more comfortable with throttle/clutch control. Trails are the goal, but I need practice even when its not a weekend. My plan is to get this guy running right, commute to work 1-2 days a week, and then hit trails on weekends.

I know I still won't be able to keep up with a pure enduro, but I see this as a decent step up from the 125 while allowing me to maximize practice time.

I will have A LOT of questions.

Welcome to the site as a new USER. Enjoy and ride safely. Ask away. As for riding enjoyment it isn't always about power and speed. Much can come from practice on the way to developing good trail riding skills.

There was an old VHS video out called "Trail Smarts". Might be worth some searching to see if a DVD version exists. Good video. Post on!

Your XT225 will do things and take you places you never expected it capable of. Gear up. Get comfortable with the bike. Take it slow. Learn as you go. Be safe. Above all enjoy the ride. You'll be there when you get there..
