...there was a HUGE motorcycle salvage yard a few miles south of Payson in Rye, AZ with a massive number of bikes. Not sure if it's there anymore, All Bikes burnt up years ago and closed down.

Detour, thanks for the update on the Rye motorcycle salvage yard. Seems not all that long ago I'd drive by on my way to wherever I was going and marvel at the massive number of old bikes out in the open waiting for parts to be picked off of them. Time passed and I didn't pay close attention, so knowing the place burned and the bikes are gone is helpful. Curious as to what caused that fire, but at least I won't be pointing people that way anymore.

Great ride yesterday. Sprocket worked perfectly! 41 miles of mostly dirt of varying conditions. Top speed of 55 mph on one section of dirt. Most of the time 20 - 30 mph and down to a crawl in a couple of spots. While riding I was think of a single word I could use to describe the final setup and kept coming back to EASIER. Just simply the bike has become really easy to ride in the dirt. The biggest noticeable change is the reduction of at least 25% of the shifting between gears. An intermediate/expert hill has become EASY to climb. Before I had to gear down to second with the motor screaming at too slow of a speed or hit it with high speed in third to climb. Since it has a lot of rocks & ruts, at speed it was a bit more risky to climb. Now it grunted up in third at a much more controllable, enjoyable pace. Very very pleased. I believe it is now better than my CRF45x was but still not on par with my CRF45r. Will be riding a Beta Xtrainer soon and I wanted to have all the changes done so I could feel the diff of the mod XT against the new suspension of the Beta. I believe I could ride the XT now any place I could ride the Beta, just not as smoothly (80% rider / 20% bike). Done with all my changes & upgrades and for ME I am getting everything possible out of the XT. It is now a dirt bike that can be used on the blacktop, instead of the factory setup which is for a street bike that can be used in the dirt, IMHO. That's it, the JT sprocket without offset works for me. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

....smaller counter sprocket 14T, and up two teeth in the rear 47T with Kenda 760 tires. I took the Shinko's off... This almost the same final ratio as a 15/50 sprocket set I have heard recommended. I believe the TTR225 used a 16/55 which I have been curious about trying. Glad to hear you are pleased with setup. Considering your experience and others this must be the sweet spot for these little engines. What Shinko where you running before? Curious as to what caused that fire, but at least I won't be pointing people that way anymore.
The fire started in the back of the property, burnt up the main building, some school buses he had parked back there and moved through the yard from there. The bikes at the front of the property were untouched and sat there for a few years after the fire. They finally went in and scrapped the whole yard out and bladed it a couple of years ago. News clip from the fire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeTd7BD-0TI

Too many other things going on in my life at the time, plus I never saw or read any news about it when it happened. For some time after the fire the bikes out front remained in place. Unless someone knew about the fire seeing those bikes while driving by made it appear the yard was still in operation..

Tire make/model: rear Shinko R505 Hybrid Cheater, front Shinko F546 Soft-Intermediate
I liked them at first but the more I rode on them the more I became unhappy. Let's hope this is not the case with my new tires, LOL. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

I'm with you, Rocmoc. Hope your new tires don't disappoint after a time like the Shinko's did. That's not what you want from new shoes on your bike..

What are the new tyres to be tried?
Shinko rare in UK, not popular in suppliers for some reason.
The only tyres I couldn't get on with were Mich AC10 bit of a personal thing are tyres.
Bridgestone Gritty good but wore out fast. Dunlop Geomax ok. Currently Metz Unicross on front, seems very good, going to try a rear when due.
