Awareness, even if it comes through the backdoor, is a great thing. Glad this thread got you a second look. I need to check out our 2 bikes. It's that damn time thing again. mad

sorry guys ,
haven't been here in a week or so .
but i'm really no help as i'm not doing this work.
Dont have the time. i've got a guy that restores old dirt bikes fixing her up. i just order parts. but i may know more soon and will certainly post any findings.

No harm in getting some help. I've done so with bike repairs as required. If you have someone knowledgeable and trustworthy then it's a good arrangement for both parties. Please keep us informed.

Ok here is the update.
replaced most gaskets and o-rings (What came with so-called complete gasket set) of which quite a few were leaking. Also replaced plug and plug wire. Sealed a crack in the jug. Adjusted/tightened the clutch. Re-attached the speedometer cable. Tightened chain.Bleed Brakes. Oil and filter change.Tightened/replaced many loose bolts thru out.

Outcome- I havent had a chance to really put many miles on it but it feels great and it is no longer spitting oil on my shoes and pants. I love this bike. I think I did good. You tell me. This cost me the parts/fluids plus 50$ and a 36 pack of bud light.

Did I mention I'm in love with this old bike.

What is the procedure for replacing the plug wire?
Does it just screw on?


2004 XT225 purchased new in October 2004 0 miles. Current miles over 27,000.

Yes, The plug wire does just screw on.
