What are the best practices for storing in the winter time? Washington is super wet and cold so im storing my bike in the garage for the winter. What should i do? Drain the gas? Clean the carb? take the battery out? Going to use this time to redo the connectors for the lights and such. Clean up some more grounds and maybe replace the exhaust.

I think it is better to fill the tank with gas and add fuel stabilizer, than to drain the tank. Just be sure to idle the bike for a few minutes to get the stabilizer in to the carb. Or just take the bike for a spin around the block.

Filling the tank full and adding stabilizer is a good idea per above. I'd run the carb out of fuel which is what we do after every ride.
As for the battery, a trickle charger is good if you have AC handy. No need to remove the battery. Just make sure it has a full charge if you'll see freezing temps. We'd store our bikes for 8+ months in a U-lock place (-20F sometimes). Never had any problems with the batteries going dead. Always used Yuasa batteries too. It's a good idea to take the weight off the tires if you can. Or move the bike from time to time. Avoids flat spots.
Mechanical equipment like bikes are always best running and being used. If you can (on nice dry days) taking the bike out for a spin would be the best. Run the carb out of fuel when done. Good luck!

100% gas!
Full tank, dry carb seems to be the best solution. A trickle charger is good for the battery.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

I use a trickle charger. I keep Chevron in the tanks of my stuff that sits. No problems with carbs or injectors.
