I was not sure which forum to post in but it's an upgrade so here it goes! Please don't murder me here! I have an opportunity to buy a lower mileage gently ridden 2000 Suzuki DRZ400. To do this I would have to sell my faithful companion 2001 XT 225 with 11000 miles on it. Blue book values are not reflective of real world prices so I have no idea what I could sell it for. It does have upgrades including the Z1 mod, the wider metal footpegs that are advertised on this forum, a rear rack, tool tube, barkbuster handgauards, a cortech tank bag, seat concepts seat and brand new shinko trials type tires and tubes. I was thinking $1500 firm. Am I way off on the price? I did paint it camo which may not appeal to some but I love it.

From what I've seen, having kept track of XT225 pricing for many years, if you're asking $1500 for your bike (I've seen no photos of it and other than your 11,000 mile note and the upgrades you've done there's nothing more to base this on), my best guess is you're at least $1000 to $1200 low on what you'd be asking for it - given where real world pricing on these classic bikes now stands.

But, hey, ..if you want to sell it at $1500, send some photos and I may buy it and have it picked up and shipped to me in Arizona!..

Just took note of your having painted the bike 'camo'. Missed that on first read. That alone, depending on the party you deal with, may be enough to knock what should be a real world asking price down considerably. Post some good photos and let us see the bike itself. That'll help a lot..

Wow, so I guess I'm not too far off then on the price. I would have posted a picture, but realized I can't just upload from my mobile device. Is photo bucket still a viable option to post pics here?

If you have a pay account at photobucket, I think it still works. The free accounts no longer work.

$1500 sounds fair for a bike in good shape.

Note that the DRZ is MUCH bigger than the XT. The seat height alone is something like 6" higher. If that's not an issue, they're great bikes with tons of aftermarket support.

This shall pass, be still and know.

The majority who used Photobucket in the past when it was a free service have long since moved on -- many to IMGUR.com, a hugely popular free hosting service that works flawlessly.

Photobucket's still available as a paid service, but when the same level of service without out of pocket cost is available elsewhere it's hard to justify using Photobucket -- especially in light of how shabbily they treated their users when they did away with their free service with no prior warning, in essence holding millions of stored images as ransom, demanding an exorbitant cash payment up front to make them available again.

I felt fortunate finally being able to download all my images Photobucket was holding and putting them up on IMGUR instead. Photobucket turned into a very unpleasant experience to say the least, as millions will testify..

Photobucket pulled a fast one by deleting all free photos then asking for bread. Per above IMGUR seems to be a logical replacement. You need a clean URL to your photo ending in .jpg or .png to embed it here. We like photos around here. Post on!

Yes, I had photos there too and used it to post pictures here previously but have not used it in awhile, now to realize what you just said, they aren't free anymore and I don't see my photos either. I have them on other media, just not sure how to upload them here. I hate technology changes!Just learn to do something and then it doesn't work anymore!

Just joined Flickr, got the images on their site, still can't get them to load here. Banging head on wall doesn't seem to help!

Wondering what the hangup might be getting Flickr photos to display here, I set up an account and found the link to an image process unintelligible as well. Compared to the simplicity of posting photos hosted on my IMGUR account (on a par with how simple it was to post photos from my Photobucket account back when it was usable), Flickr seems (at least to me on first try) nearly impossible to link a photo hosted there to a post here. Of course there must be a way, but it's not easily apparent to newbies like us on Flickr's site.

Hopefully someone who knows the ropes when it comes to Flickr will jump in and solve this problem for us..
