Hello, just recently I replaced my old valves on my XT225 and while I was checking out the engine, I noticed a GIANT gouge on the cylinder. The gouge was about half a cm deep maybe 1 cm I didnít measure, but I wanted to see if itís repairable if not where can I find a replacement. I appreciate the help if any. Thanks.

Any possibility of getting a photo of the damage?

Pics would help. Where is the gouge?

I am not sure if the piston on these bikes have a valve relief and that is what you mean or in the cylinder wall itself.I know the last few years there was a nikasil liner but a gouge in the wall might require a new block. It's unfortunate that a relatively new engine would have that kind of catastrophic damage. This is normal valve relief and would not be a concern. https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/searc...mp;action=click

You need a hosting service to post pictures. IMGUR is the most popular free service. I use Smugmug, which isn't free, but has other benefits.

IMGUR is far and away the most popular free photo hosting service available. SmugMug, a non-free service used by millions, is a great choice as well. You won't go wrong with either one. They're both highly professional and easily understood. The services they provide make posting photos here or elsewhere point-and-click simple..

Hmm, I think not so good. What do the rings look like? I guess you could bore out the cylinder and install a larger piston if the gouges are too deep.
