Just picked up my first XT225! A 2001. Saw the bike sitting in an ally... clean, low-ish miles (3,200), un-molested looking... and I put a note on it asking if the owner wanted to sell it. Two weeks later, and I'm the proud new owner! Rode about 10 miles yesterday on pavement and gravel roads, and I'm shocked at the pep that the bike has! I only weigh 115lbs though, so there's that. It's got a Delkevic aftermarket exhaust which I'm sure helps too. But wow, I'm super impressed. - Longmont Colorado resident (5,000-ish feet elevation) - Plan to ride it on the road up to mountain trails, and will be hitting 10,000/12,000 feet elevation some times. We'll see how she does at high altitude Happy to have found this group and share notes!

Conick, welcome to the group. You've found the right place for all things relating to the Yamaha XT, and lots more as well. Enjoy your bike and the site, and ride safely!..

Welcome to the site as a new USER. Enjoy and ride safely. Post on!
We're near the north and south San Juan Mountains so there are plenty of trails up there. You may need to drop the main jet down if the bike runs too rich. Generally those bikes are lean and run reasonably well up to 12k feet. You'll know pretty quickly what the deal is when you hit the high country.
Lots of dope on that here in the threads.

Thanks for the input! I've read that they are jetted lean from the factory, so I'm just going to drive it an see what happens. I can ride from 5,000 feet here to 10,000 feet in just 20 miles, so I plan to do that once I get registration complete and some new tires.
