Im trying to get my hands on a new float bowl. Mine has a pretty messed up screw on the bottom. It works. But i do plan on selling it in the future and dont wanna be an asshole and sell something crappy looking.
Does anyone know if the carburetor on a Yamaha TTR225 is the same as the XT? As far as i can tell theyre the same bike but the xt is street legal. Anything helps.

Looking at parts fiche, the carbs are noticeably different. It might functionally work, but it's not the same carb. You might also look for yamaha ATV's that have the same engine.
What's wrong with the float bowl? If it's just the screws, replace them with M4 socket head cap screws. Most hardware stores will have them.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

Thats what i was wondering. Thanks for the response.
Nothing is wrong with the actual float bowl. Just the fuel vent screw is a little stripped. I am able to get it out if need be.

What do you mean exactly by fuel vent screw? Do you mean the screw that lets fuel drain out of the float bowl? In any case, go here https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/oem-parts/YamahaPut in the year of your bike and look at the carburetor diagram. They can get you the OEM Yamaha part you need.

Yes, if it's the bowl drain in the bottom, you might need a new bowl. The drain screw is a metal/metal seal. The taper on the screw seals against a mating taper in the bowl. If this as has been overtightened and buggered up, you'll have to polish any imperfections on the sealing surface in the bowl, which isn't real easy.
OEM parts are still mostly available. Rocky Mountain ATV, RonAyers, and BikeBandit are common sources. Unfortunately I don't see the just the bowl available as a separate part so you may have to go the salvage yard route to find one, if you need it.

right right. No, the inside of the drain screw is completely fine. Its just the outside. And i know a lot of people care about stuff like that. For me, it works and only the head of the screw is mucked up. Thanks, mates.

It sounds like you only need a new drain plug. part # 12r-14191-00-00 they are about 7 bucks, I know ,a lot for a screw but still cheaper than a float bowl.

To anyone and everyone who has ever had or is currently having carb problems/issues!!
I have a 1992 Serow and she's had her fair share of work done. After getting her right good, the carb seems to be falling apart on me. Seems to be a case of death a 100 pin holes rather than one big blow. In any case, I found a company in the States that deals their products on ebay Canada and they sell BRAND NEW COMPLETE CABURETOR ASSEMBLIES for just 42$ US!!!
Thats right....instead of 30$ for this piece and 60$ for that piece and maybe this'll work better......buy the whole thing brand new for just 42$ and FREE shipping.
For anyone with an older bike starting to run poorly.....do yourself a favor, start fresh, and get a whole new one. just go to ebay.ca and write down TTR225 carburetor assembly. the TTR of 99-04 has the same carb as the XT of 1992-2000.
Have fun!
Keep it simple

Haven't yet needed to replace a carburetor on any of my bikes, but I did replace the old original carburetor on my Briggs & Stratton powered DR trimmer/mower with a complete new $9 import carburetor from Amazon, and it runs like a champ again. Put an inexpensive inline fuel filter in place while I was at it, like the one I have on my Honda CRF230L.
If a bike carburetor ever needs major work I'll do what you did and replace it with an import carb for pennies on the dollar against what it would cost to restore the original carburetor to useful life again..
..I'd rather have questions I can't answer, than answers I can't question.. Dr. Phil
