No. I used .100" aluminum. All the seams except the sides were welded inside and out. The tank pressure tested without leaks.


Spaling errors and typos have been included on porpoise for those who enjoy finding them.

That's good you didn't have any leaks to deal with. A little thicker aluminum helps the welding process too. Interesting project and continued good luck bringing it home. Thanks for posting it here.

That's brilliant, some project to take on, you've made it look easy, I doubt it was. Will it be buffed up or paint finish? I'm guessing you are planning some long distance rides.


Muniac/Peejman, still have my slide-rule, boss tried taking them off us, took a while to trust the new fangled calculator things, we'd always check with slide-rule.

Finished project. Now I have to find a place to store the tool kit, since it's not accessible behind the tank.
The welded seams make the tank look like it was stitched by Dr. Frankenstien.
I had to raise the handlebars .700" to clear the top of the tank.




The fuel gauge is bright blue.
