Alright sounds simple enough, Tractor Supply has some fuel line it looks like, should I also grab a fuel filter as well?

I was looking at the service manual and saw that it calls for a petroleum-based cleaning solvent rather than a caustic carburetor solution.
I already got some Gumout Carb/Choke (& parts) cleaner should I get a different thing?

This is my very first time doing something like this and I don't wanna screw anything up!

(EDIT) I think I'll just end up getting the online Haynes for this and then end up buying the physical book. I really don't wanna screw this up.

Yes, get a fuel filter too. A 90 deg version can be a little easier to install, but the typical in-line type can be squeezed in there.

Aerosol carb cleaner is fine. Wear safety glasses when spraying out the carb. A face full of carb cleaner is unpleasant. Compressed air is also handy for cleaning/drying parts.

Just be careful with the little pieces. They can be hard to find when you drop them into the dust bunnies under your work bench.

This shall pass, be still and know.

Alright, I have canned air as well.
Thank you for your wisdom Peej, I'm just working myself up over this.
All I need to do is just take plenty of pictures and take it at my pace.
But how much of a breakdown do I have to do?
I was planning on monkeying this video here but he seems to go way in depth.

Your going to want to take it completely apart. And be careful of the rubber diaphragm on the top. It is fragile and you don't want to get any carb cleaner on it, or spray carb cleaner or air without removing it.

Thanks!
I was blessed with an unexpected day off today so I think I'll start here in a minute after I'm done breaking bread!

I'll follow the video exactly and stuff. I'll take plenty of pictures and be sure to update everyone here how it goes.

Wish me luck!!

Sorry to double-post!
I got the carb off, easy part right?
Nothing exploded or went wrong...
Kinda. I'll get to that.

With the gas tank off I took it as a chance to go ahead and rinse it, I know, before people start screaming "YOU RINSED IT?!!!" it was already rusted, but oh man I was NOT expecting all these particles and stuff to come out. It took 5 rinses to get all that crap out.

I want to use some Evapo-rust on it, but I have no idea how to seal the tank so it doesn't leak, the petcock and the cap. Does anyone have any suggestions?

However, I noticed something! My petcock was still draining! I turned it to off and double checked three times but it still kept dribbling out the water...
Hmmm, maybe a new petcock is in order?

Anyway, pulling the carb was easy. Except I have this black line that I have no idea of where its supposed to go.

annnnd I sort of ripped my drain hose...
So a new drain hose is in order too.

On inspection though the carb looks clean. I haven't taken it apart, gonna save that for tomorrow so I'm hoping my luck carries me through!

I would say yes. @$35 brand new OEM, better deal than any after market rebuild kit IMO.

As far as that unidentified hose.

My best guess is that it is the vent hose on the right hand side.
If you have a California modal, then all bets are off. There are 2 more hoses on those that someone more familiar with the CA modals than I am would have to help you with.

With the tank off, good time to check/adjust valves.
