Gut feelings and an instinct can be the only buffer between you and disaster. Over the years riding with groups, I've seen some riders do really stupid things. Then others are left to clean up the mess. Be safe out there!

I don't ride on the tracks but if there is a trail in/on the berm along side of the tracks I sure do!

Thanks for the chronicle. Brings back fond memories. Jeannie and I did a lot of bike N' hike runs. The XT can get you into a remote area then it's foot travel from there. Shoes and wheels both have their place. It's good to know how best to combine those methods of travel for safety and enjoyment. Exercise is always good too as you explore.
