I'm reassembling the front shocks on my 1987 Serow and I need to apply non permanent thread locking compound to the bottom bolt. Since I'm taking practically the whole bike apart where else would one require to apply this stuff?

You can apply it to any bolts that you think might vibrate loose. Not much does on these bikes. Maybe gear linkage pivot & rear brake pivot, just for reassurance.

What he said. Do not use it on things that are sensitive to clamp load where not specified (cylinder bolts, head bolts, ...). The present of the compound can cause a significant change to the clamp load at the listed torque.

Blue loctite, not red.

This Page at bottom has two PDFs on Loctite thread locking compounds. Might help with understanding thread locking and what compound is best for a given application. And they have a lot of compounds. Good luck.

Thanks chaps. Ended up using a local one called Adlock. Same principle and a bit cheaper.
