On removing the Stator cover on my 1986 Serow to check the electrics, I noticed everything was covered in oil. Resting the bike at an angle on the side stand, about a quarter of a pint of oil drained out from behind the flywheel onto the floor !!. The bike hasn’t run for 10 years so I’m guessing an oil seal has failed but I cant seem to identify it on the parts list.
Can anyone identify the seal please and do I need to split the crank cases to replace it ?
All advice gratefully received.

There is no seal! The stator runs in oil, so all is well.

Yep. A small amount of oil in there is normal. Good that it ran out and wasn't sludgy or coked up from being too hot.
This shall pass, be still and know. 2006 XT225, UNI filter, ProTaper bars, MSR handguards, SS front brake line, Shinko 241's.

Thanks guys, that's the best news I've had today. New CDI on order which I'm fervently hoping will solve the lack of spark problem, then who knows, it might actually start !

Something to check on the stator if you have no spark. I think it is the yellow and brown wires coming from the stator should read between 875 and 975 ohm's. Mine was having intermitent spark problems and a test showed 1000 ohm's. I replaced the stator and it has great spark all the time. BTW the new stator read 950 ohm's. Something to check, good luck!!

The race was definitely underway. I had witnessed the start, I was sure of that much. But what now? What comes next?
