Craig, it's not easy finding an excellent XT225 for sale, especially if you want it to be a local purchase, something you can drive to and take home with you if it measures up. You might stumble into one given enough time, or you might not. Be prepared to travel some distance if what looks to be the right bike shows up.
The last XT I bought I drove to New Mexico to pick up. And some years ago I bought a good looking XT225 off of Craigslist back on the east coast and had it picked up and transported to Arizona, which added a few hundred dollars to the purchase price. That bike turned out to be as nice as I was told it was, so that deal worked OK. But buying sight unseen is a crap shoot no matter how you look at it, so be prepared to do what you have to do if you're lucky and find what you're looking for some distance away.
I just stumbled into a cherry '08 Honda CRF230L while looking for an XT225 on our local Craigslist, and felt fortunate to find that bike. Haven't seen an XT225 of any sort listed for sale in this area in a long time now. Hopefully you'll find the Yamaha you want and you won't have to look any further. But if one doesn't show up the Honda CRF230L, the Kawasaki Super Sherpa, and the Yamaha XT225 are much the same in design and function, and as light weight dual-sport bikes any of these that show up for sale are worth looking closely at.
Good luck with your search. I wish you the best..
