I took my old refrigerator to the local scrap metal recycler and they paid me $25 for it. I wouldn't know what to do with RR ties other than cut off pieces to use as fire-starter.

I typically have a few grocery bags in my pack and use them as trash bags when we go hiking, almost always fill up at least one. We went on a short paddle with several folks from work and my canoe ended up being the garbage carrier. We picked up at least a kitchen bag full of trash over maybe 5 miles of river.
This shall pass, be still and know.

Here we need to get a sticker from an approved refrigerant reclamation provider. Not sure what that costs. Once the appliance has that sticker, Recla Metals here in town will crap it and pay you the going rate for metals.

I too pick up trash. Along our road it's mostly Coors Light beer bottles thrown from vehicles. It sucks when they land on the other side of barbed wire. My neighbor has 160 acres fenced in fronting the road for about 1/2 mile.

Property here goes back the the homestead act in parcels of 160 acres. Back in the day you dug a hole dumped trash in then burned it up. Some still do that currently. Old habits (bad or good) die hard I guess.

Paddling is fun. We had two inflatable kayaks we could fit in backpacks. We'd take all the gear up on the XTs for paddling some of the alpine lakes.
