Out yesterday up in t'hills, methinks, exhaust sounds noisier than usual.

Took it off today, seemed fine if a little rusty on parts we don't see. Got the electric wire brush on it & oh no, holes appearing when I cleared the rust.

I remember Reggie getting a Delkevicuk one, I think the 350mm version, I couldn't find his post on it. So I ordered one anyway based on my failing memory.

Wow, that's a huge silencer for such a small bike. Do you have to adhere to OEM noise requirements?

Ha It's the small one, similar size to the original, they also do a 450mm version, by 'eck that's long, and a 225mm race? version. Dunno what they'd be racing. My MOT tester wouldn't like that one.

On the + side, it's 3.5 lbs lighter than original.

3.5 lbs is a pretty good weight reduction.

Aye m8, if it turns out the advertised weight of 1.9kg, the stock one I weighed is 3.5kg. I converted it for you folks being stuck in a time warp ha laugh We're used to this funny weight thing now.

It's on its way I got a tracking number, I rec'n it's on the back of a snail. I could have gone & got it, only 30 miles away, it's now on its way to the courier depot which is 30 miles in the opposite direction, then it'll spend a day on a shelf before a courier takes it for a tour of Cheshire.

If I get an excuse to get that I will. Would this work out fine with stock jetting / carb setup, or too much flow?

The race was definitely underway. I had witnessed the start, I was sure of that much. But what now? What comes next?

We found exhaust systems less restrictive than the OEM version caused a very slight leaning of the mixture. Also a small increase in noticeable power. Easily compensated for by increasing the main jet one size. A wait and see situation, however. Mod your exhaust, run the bike for a while and see how it performs. Adjust if/as required.

I can't remember what Reggie said when he fitted the same exhaust, if he had to re-jet or not.

I know when I fitted a K&N air filter to my Brazil XT225 it totally screwed up the fuelling, died above half throttle. I had two goes at re-jetting then it got stolen before I got it right.

I'll let y'all know when i get it fitted. Not here yet.

The exhaust fitted fine at front end to the down pipe & lined up fine with the bolt hole. At the back it came with a spacer & bolt, these were not long enough for it to clear the mudguard, needed another 6mm spacer & longer bolt. All fitted up fine now. Fired up & what a nice sound, not too loud but deep bark Brrrum Brrrum, very nice. Overall, better looking, much lighter, better sound & cheaper than oem.

Just needs a road test now to check fuelling.

Hello,

From out of the blue.
I am a first time motorcycle owner with a very old machine (1987)
that is in need of a new header pipe.
The one on the machine is mild steel.
I am going to have one made up.
Should I stick with mild or go stainless?
