Knowledge helps a lot. I learned from the stator adventures on 2 bikes. Shared here.

Jeannie's bike won't idle now so I'll need to delve into that problem. Me thinks the pilot jet circuit is clogged. Going for the B-12 and hope for the best. There is always something to dicker with. If not, you've likely overlooked something.

Like Scott's, mine got to be hard to start when hot, but fine when cold. If it does that, replace the stator. Now starts when I just touch the button. I ride alone in places with no cell signal. Better safe than sorry! It also could be life threatening.

I shall check out a source in the UK in readiness, currently starts first touch of the button when warm.

Thanks

I recall the XT225 stators costing about $260 USD. Some years back now. I went with OEM on this part.

By 'eck that's a tad expensive. I'll just use it in Winter so it don't overheat eh. wink

The stator is easy to check with an multimeter . If I remember correctly new will read 775 to 875 ohm's between the brown and green wires. I started having problems with mine, checked it, and it read 980 ohm's, so I replaced it. The new one read 800 ohms.

I got mine from the Boats website for $217 US. They are around Atlanta, free FedEx and 2 day delivery. Hard to beat. They are out of gaskets and say Yamaha is no longer making them. Got them from Rocky Mtn.

That's weird that Boat.com says Yamaha no longer makes a gasket. RM ATV also notes when a part is no longer shipping and their site says the gaskets still ship. I hope Yamaha isn't pulling parts support for these basic items..

No XTs at the moment..

I hope not either. If so let's hope a 3rd party covers the parts we need to keep our bikes up and running. There's a lot of them out there and they all need parts from time to time. Single/same parts cover many years of those bikes too.

Scott,
It is an aftermarket gasket. Fits fine. At least someone is covering Yamaha's slack. Probably owned at least 6 or more Yammy race bikes, they stop making stuff for them after a few years. Surprised they still make anything for 225's. They want to sell you a new one.
