I'm trying to gear my xt 16:53. I bought the JT 1263-16 front and replaced stock 15T, but its making grinding noises when shifting. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the larger front sprocket not fitting in the housing or something else. Has anyone had this problem or know what the issue may be? thanks

I've put this exact sprocket on two XTs with no issue. I would jack up the rear wheel off the ground and turn the rear wheel and see where the noise is coming from. Also, if you have a stable jack, you can run the bike on the jack in first or second gear and see if there is binding or something going on.

The sprocket shouldn't have anything to do with shifting noises. As stated, get the rear wheel off the ground and see what's rubbing.

Ok thanks for the advice. Idk what the problem was to be honest. Cleaned out the gunk around the front sprocket, chain was a little too tight, or the mini chain slider may have been running. either way thanks.
