There is a good sized patch of woods about 5 miles from my house, then on the other side of that patch of woods is a big lake that the local nuclear power plant uses for cooling. I took the XT out on 12/27/2017 to have a candlelight lunch by the lake. It was 35 degrees outside so it was easy to keep the beer cold. Pic by the lake and on the trail/road on the way back through the woods when I was heading home:

This is very cool! Nice peaceful ride and some food to enjoy. We all need a happy place from time to time. Looks like you found a good one.

Jeannie and I would pack lunches and explore on the XTs. So this brings back fond memories. Now we've expanded into 4WD adventures. We disappear up into the mountains to hike, climb, ski and explore. Ahead of time we make bucket meals and hobo pockets and load them into the cooler. Then fill the thermos will soup. Easy to prepare a nice dinner heated up on a small propane grill.

It can take 1 to 1-1/2 hours to get back into town from the mountains. When you're done exploring that's too long to wait for something to eat. So we evolved this system of a meal in minutes. Also high winds, rain and snow need to be dealt with. From the back deck of the car we can cook. And not a soul around either.

The XTs remain good trail bikes and we just go out for rides on them now. We used to pack dinner and load that into the van for an after the ride meal.

Keep the good times rolling!

Good stuff!

Did you seriously heat up a can of chili with a tea light?

It's never occurred to me before now, that I could pack my backpacking stove on the bike and have a hot meal on a cold day.

heh heh... No... I actually like cold chili right out of the can. I took that tea light along with me to make it easier if I decided to start a fire, but decided against building a fire while I was out there. I lit the candle anyway for... um... ambiance? smile

The tea light is a nice touch. Cold chili right out of the can, not hardly! But whatever floats your boat!!..
