Hi Guys n Gals,

just started to look a the restoration of my dad's Japanese Domestic Market XT225 Serow 1997/98 model, which came complete with the tubeless type rear rim, and has a rear disc brake.

The existing rims have suffered corrosion, so require either a straight replacement, or even complete new wheels.

As you can imagine, these are rare enough to get hold of, and even worse when you try to get Japanese parts suppliers to ship them out of their country.

So does anyone know of a company that can do such work in the UK (before you suggest Central Wheel Components - they can't)?

Or any set's that may be with a breakers?

Or anyone who has a spare set they'd be willing to sell?

And does anyone know if the JDM wheels are the same for the 225 Serow and the 250 Serow? Looking at images they look the same but the part numbers differ

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Regards

Hi Guys n Gals,

well as no updates here, I have my fingers crossed that a contact n Japan may be able to come up with an option, or two!

Reggie, depending on what you find, and what it'll cost to source wheels from Japan if they are available, keeping your eyes open for a parts bike that has good wheels and comes at a decent price might be an option. You're no doubt already doing that, so keep on keeping on. Best of luck buddy..

Hi George,

they're getting as scarce as rocking horse droppings at the moment, and when they do come up for sale, they're either mega expensive or knackered!

Still, I have strong hopes that our Japanese friends can come to the rescue.

Either way, Im sure to let you know.

Hi Guys n Gals,

well today our Japanese contacts came up with the goods!

I'm now the proud owner of a magnificent pair of Japanese Domestic Market Serow wheels, in gold. They're designed to fit the later 250cc model Serow but the front wheel is identical to either the 225 or 250 bikes and I reckon the rear just needs different sized pacers fitting.

With me having PC problems, I cant attach an image but can offer a ink to the Serow FaceBook page, where you can see them gleaming away!
