I wonder what the annual cost is for you to have the necessary server g/b's?

Other sites use member policing and feedback to control spam and porn. Could that work here?

Is liability insurance available, and at what cost to protect you against copyright issues?

Just wondering.

SmugMug has a guest upload capability. Something I'm trying to figure out if it will work. It isn't so much the bread for storage but the stewardship problems that arise. It requires constant babysitting 24x7. Some years back I had photo hosting software on this site. A nightmare to say the least. I'm also under contract with Google which gets complex as far as what I can and can't do here. For now Imgur can host photos similar to photobucket.

A basic SmugMug account isn't expensive. And many people enjoy photo hosting for their own personal stuff. That's another option for those willing to part with a few buck to help out. Some just won't go there, however.

Another question: Anyway for the author of a post to go in and edit it, like you're able to do with Facebook posts?

I believe the board's default is 6 hours after posting for edits.

There are some simple ways of having your own photo-site. A simple domain and webpage can be set up easily such as one I moved my information to recently. my page

You can find some free website services but better ones are available for about 10 bucks a month (or even less). You not only get a website but your pictures are available for other uses on line. Here's a pic from the site above.

There are good picture sharing sites still available like
flickr and I store some pictures there too. It's free, and up to 1 TB of pics. A tremendous resource at least for now.

Mike, that's a good looking page you've set up. Easy way to keep photos at hand for when you want to link them to another site like this one. Nicely done!..

Yes nice page. And I like your shop pictures too. I dabble a bit in making things and trying to solve a few problems along the way. Keeps the brain engaged.
