We picked the best weather forecast in 2 weeks! Planned a trip over Hagerman Pass, up Burnt Mountain to Harry Gates Hut. Its been a very active monsoon season lately in Colorado. The night before out trip it thundered, lightning, rain, and hailed....so much for the weather forecast! On the ride up to offload our bikes, all the peaks were snow covered, and then of course it rained and hailed. I told my partner (jokingly) the sun will be out in 10 minutes.....it was! We headed out! Hagerman Pass was not to difficult, dirt, rocks, mud, water, cold....you know, just what we love! Due to a mix up in routing (we both picked different routes) we took Butch's route, 10 miles longer! Burnt Mountain Road was great, lots of elevation change, mud, rocks, water, dirt, cows, rain....good stuff! We found our hut and settled in, when the rain stopped, we set out to explore fishing possibilities, which was cut short by....of course.....rain, sleet, lightning.....we made it back to the hut just in time before the sky opened up! Our sore bodies were craving a nip of scotch so we gave in! We had a great time in spite of the weather. Remember, the difference between adventure and nightmare is attitude! ride on! here goes, hope this Flickr works with comments stormed all night before our ride, lots of new snow on peaks by jerryxt07, on Flickr rain, sleet, and mud as we approahed our parking spot at Windsor Lake parking by jerryxt07, on Flickr our trusty transport! by jerryxt07, on Flickr don't like the weather in Colorado? wait 15 minutes! by jerryxt07, on Flickr Maybe Timberline Lake near Hagerman pass, not sure... by jerryxt07, on Flickr my navigator by jerryxt07, on Flickr Harry Gates Hut ride by jerryxt07, on Flickr our hut......good shelter in monsoon season! by jerryxt07, on Flickr our hut......good shelter in monsoon season! by jerryxt07, on Flickr moments after our aborted fishing scouting, cheated sleet again! by jerryxt07, on Flickr my trusty steed, Lake Ivanhoe by jerryxt07, on Flickr

Nice pictures. It is wise to carry rain gear.
