Some of the forums use sites that allow pics to be loaded direct from users computers similar to facebook, without using these third party companies. Is it possible to change ours to do the same?

I don't have the server space to store gigabytes of photos. And do the security checks to avoid porn and lewd photos from being uploaded.

Then if you offer your own storage, you get into potential copyright issues by hosting and using someone else's photos. Probably not a problem in 99% of those offering photos to this site. But then one weirdo surfaces.

There still remains free photo hosting services. Some here have used Imgur for clean URLs. Not sure how long this will prevail (given photobucket's plug pull). My take is a paid photo hosting service offers good value. Smugmug has a basic plan for $47.88/year. Or $0.92/week. Paid in full annually. $6/month in pay as you go. It's an excellent service and well worth the bread if you want to give a little and share photos here in a durable way.

The reality is photo hosting just isn't an easy problem to solve with all the potential issues it presents. Mainly security, insuring responsible posting and all the policing required. A small venue site like XT225 just doesn't have the resources to provide photo hosting.

One option, if you are even sort of tech savvy, is to host the photos yourself.

If you have a static Internet IP address then you are one step ahead of the game. If not, then you can use "no-ip" https://www.noip.com/free to map your dynamic IP address to a static domain name.

Once you have that figured out, you can install a web server application either on your main PC or on a dedicated PC (old PCs are great for this - you DO NOT need anything powerful to do this). I recommend installing a mainstream version of Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Mint) on an old PC. Make sure you configure it to have a static IP address on your local LAN. Then you just install a web server application such as Apache (the gold standard) or Nginx (lightweight and fast) or Cherokee (easy). Plenty of options https://www.linux.com/news/which-light-weight-open-source-web-server-right-you

There are also some options for Windows, which means if you really want to run it on Windows (you don't - it is a great way to get hacked - FAST) you can.

It's really a matter of doing some googling and messing around until you get to a point where you can "hit" your new web server on it's static, internal IP address from your browser.

The final piece of the puzzle is to set up a NAT on your router/firewall so that it redirects inbound connections to port 80 on your Internet IP address - to an inbound connection on port 80 of the internal IP address that you assigned to your web server.

Then you just dump photos into a directory of the web server and paste the urls with "IMG" tags into forums. When someone loads the forum page, their computer is told to load the images from "yourname.no-ip.info" which directs to your current IP address, the connection is NATed through your router/firewall to your web server and the server sends the images.

Easy peasy.

Except I think a lot of us don't have an internet business account. For me hosting a webserver on a home connection isn't allowed.

A good point. I wonder if they would even notice...

Switch to TekSavvy if you can. https://teksavvy.com/ They let me do anything I want. No active monitoring, no traffic shaping, no limits, static IP address, no BS.

Straight up the BEST Internet provider in Canada. Take it from a total geek.

The triumph forum I am on has suffered also but seems to have come up with a solution that works for them. Could it also work here.

Yes, I just tried, the link didn't go straight in. I just went to it by opening the Tiger 1050 forum then pasting that link into the search function.
