Hello, new member in the Minneapolis, MN and Carrizozo, NM areas. Riding a 2017 xt250 purchased in June. Currently have riden to Thunder Bay, ON and surrounding areas and to the Alexandria, MN areas. About 2k miles on it.
Really love the bike but it's a bit loud.

Welcome to the group, Denis. If you purchased your bike new, and it's honestly too loud, take it back to the dealer. Something's not right. Out of the box, running a stock exhaust, a new 250 shouldn't be "loud" at all. The bikes I've been around certainly aren't. You can check its exhaust noise level against another XT250 to verify that it's the same. If not, then something needs fixing.

You mention "loud." Was the muffler modified in any way, or do there appear to be exhaust leaks?
On a stock bike, that's not a common complaint...

And what they said about the noise. Generally, the loudest thing when riding a stock bike is the chain. If you're hearing engine noise, it could be the airbox. If the air filter cover is missing, you'll get a lot of intake noise.
