If you want to completely delete your Facebook account, head to This Page, click 'Delete my account,' and you're done. All traces of your Facebook existence will be done away with within 90 days.

If you're sick of Facebook but you'd like to preserve your Facebook activities and photos before deleting your account, go to Facebook Settings, follow the 'Download a copy of your Facebook data' link under the General heading, and you'll receive an email when your personal activity archive is ready. Everything you've ever done on Facebook can be downloaded in HTML format if you'd like to preserve it for some reason.

Yes, yes, yes!

I destroyed my Facebook this way about 3 years ago, and have never looked back. The only reason I had a Facebook account at all was to keep in touch with my daughter, and after a year or so, I just couldn't stand Zuckerberg's obsession with sharing any longer. Small wonder we have so many narcissists.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke, don't break it if you can't fix it.

A number of years ago when it first started, I signed in as a basic account...no data, pictures, etc. The entire purpose being to be able to "see" other people's messages to me there...messages and pictures referred to in E-Mail to me?!

But then I said to myself, "No, just send it to me in E-Mail and cut Facebook out of the picture." So, I never went back.

I too have a Fakebook account but haven't been on it in almost 1 year. Truth be known, I can't figure out what exactly it does up and beyond basic emails. In my case it's a $10 solution to a $1 problem. And it's extremely difficult to wade through all the screens, options, settings, etc. Not all that enamored with becoming part of the global community.

I'll keep my account, however. Might grow into it at some point. Who knows.

Glad these options are out there for those wanting to partake. Sometimes less is more.
