Will this fit a 225 on the passenger seat without touching exhaust?

It won't touch on the left side wink

In theory, the chrome heat shield should stay below the melting point of nylon, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Looks like the luggage has some sort of integral heat shield. I guess storing chocolate on that side is out! I have a Russell on both seats so the passenger seat is taller and wider than the stock seat by quite a bit, so it may work. I have a topcase, but it makes it top heavy, so I'm looking for other options.

Most saddlebags do have built-in heat shields, but they're only marginally effective when laying directly on the exhaust in my experience. The best choice is some sort of frame or support that will maintain a gap between he bag and the exhaust.

I've got the larger version of those bags. Mine are huge for the bike, but I got them off Craigslist for a good price. You may have a little better luck with the mini ones since there won't be as much weight pulling down them. I've found the chrome heat shield and the heat shield on the bag is enough to protect the nylon from melting. Heat still gets through so I wouldn't put a can a carb cleaner inside that bag right next to it. My water bottles have came out with some very hot water in them. You have to make sure the chrome heat shield is towards the back of the bag. I have melted the back of my bags from it touching the exhaust pipe not resting on the heat shield. This means I have to sit a little closer to the front and they sit right in the crook of my knee. Don't try riding two deep.
