I've been told differently.

The example given to me which could cause problems, was a Kenda 750 Trackmaster II (not 760) if I recall correctly, in 110/100 size, not 100/100. I want the extra width.

Anyway, I'll look further into this. Thanks for your advice!

Best of luck. There are lots of good tires out there if you let yourself wiggle a bit on the precise dimensions. I can assure you that you won't have any fit/clearance/gearing issues with a 100/100.

I'd rather have a slightly narrower tire that is up to the task than a perfectly sized one that can't rid itself of mud or hook up in sand. smile

Thanks again...but as I said before, mud and sand are not my concern.

I've got the Shinko 241 which is a trials tire pattern using DOT applicable rubber. So far (~2500 miles), they're great on/off road. They don't like deep mud, but seem to stick quite well everywhere else (loose/hard dirt, gravel, leaves/pine needles, ...) I've not ridden in sand. They also seem to have a minimal footprint, meaning they don't tear up the ground like a really aggressive knobby.

And they're fairly cheap, so if you don't like them, you're not out $250.

This shall pass, be still and know.

What sizes are you using?

Don't fix it if it ain't broke, don't break it if you can't fix it.

Sorry. I misinterpreted "not specifically designed for either sand or mud", as being not specifically designed for "one or the other". I assumed you wanted something that is good for all terrain.

Best I recall... 3.0x21 and 3.5x18. The 4.0x18 rear should fit, but I didn't want the larger OD since I've got a 16T front sprocket.

Thanks. I'm also running a 16T front sprocket, so same thinking applies.

Not that I'm anywhere near a tire change, but do people usually put in new tubes with new tires, or keep the old ones, if in good shape and never punctured? I haven't owned a bike with inner tubes since ~1983.

I would highly suspect 25 year old rubber....
especially if I put my life on it
but, to answer your question, I don't know

oh, I read your post wrong, sorry / delete!

False economy not to fit a new H/D tube & rim tape while the tyres off. They're cheap enough.
